Evangelines's Journey: Episode 4
...so I hope it looks good on your computer. Believe it or not, I have been stitching since my last post. Of course, it didn't hurt matters much that I was sick for most of the time. (Nothing serious, just a bit of a sinus alergy dust reaction kind of thing... All better now.)
Anyway... Things are going pretty well and fast here. As you can see, I have managed to get some more of the red in and started putting in some of the color that will ultimately make up her shawl. I still think that the colors are a bit off when compared to the model stitch. I guess it is just the way that I am seeing things. Kim agrees with me that the image may just look that way because of how it was made, and the colors are just the way they are. And one other thing that I just thought of, the fabric that I am using (hand dyed by Kim) is just a little bit lighter in color than the model stitch. That may or may not cause the colors to look different too. Hard telling... ;-)
In answer to the comment question from Erin, in regards to Evangeline's face: yes, there is a conversion for the face when stitching on Aida cloth. Specifically, there are 2 patterns for the face: 1 if you want to stitch an over 1 face (like if you stitch on linen) and 1 for if you want to stitch an over 2 face (like if you stitch on Aida, like me). I will be doing the 'over 2' pattern, for obvious reasons. That's not to say that I wouldn't want to do the 'over 1' pattern. I have been kicking around the idea of doing an 'over 2 version of the over 1' pattern. On Aida. My thought is to make a cameo-style project of just Evangeline's face. Of course the hair might be a bit of a problem, since the pattern is only for the face. Oh well... If I do go through with trying this, I will probably just do a half-stitch grey or blue 'halo' around the face. Stay tuned for further developments in that regard...
In other news: today we received an envelope from Stitching Bits and Bobs with a few more items for our Stash Basket. One of them is a project that I will be doing for another associate at work. Pics of that to follow. I am sure Kim will be posting New Stash Pics, but if not I will put some up. We'll see...
What else? Well... We managed to get us a new cabinet for all of Kim's hand-dyed fabric. We got a KILLER deal on it too! Let's just say that we got it for close to 70% off of the original sticker price... >;-) It looks pretty good where we have it too, so that helps.
Well, that is about all I can think of to write about for now. I am sure there is more to type, but I can't think of it. Stay tuned for more of Evangeline and anything else that I happen to take the time to blog about.
Happy Stitchy and I will see you next time!
